Fair Work First
Fair Work First is relevant to every Ashwood Scotland contract and all company operations.
Managing Director David Charman and Operations Director Graeme Hadden have overall responsibility for Ashwood Fair Working Practices. Director Review Meetings are used to update, incorporate new legislation, synergise better with Customer themes and adopt best practice.
Ashwood Scotland is a committed best practice employer.
We are formally accredited by the Living Wage Foundation (since June 2016) benefiting our employees and their communities with fair pay, greater job satisfaction, higher local spending power and a long serving low turnover workforce leading our quality focus and service delivery. We encourage all in our supply chain to adopt similar policy.
We focus our operations sustainably on the central and southern Scotland communities where our people live.
We believe we meet Scottish Government Fair Work First criteria:
- Payment of at least the real Living Wage
- No use at all of zero hours contracts. Flexible and family-friendly working practices for all.
- No gender pay gap
- Investment in a skilled workforce and creation of a more diverse and inclusive workplace
- Workforce engagement and appropriate channels for effective workers' voices
- Action on environmental impact (ISO14001 accredited, net-zero 2030 targeted)
- Innovation
- Supporting our communities (through the Ashwood Scotland Foundation, sliding scale company profit and special initiatives contribution).
